World’s first apple sommeliers from South Tyrol
A world premiere: South Tyrol now has the first 17 apple sommeliers. After three months of training with theory, excursions and practical exams, they received their certification. The course, developed by the South Tyrolean Apple Consortium together with the Farmers’ Union, provides knowledge on varieties, sensory analysis, health and marketing.
The new apple sommeliers will now act as ambassadors for South Tyrol’s apples – at tastings, in gastronomy or by sharing their expertise. A new edition of the successful course is already being planned.
