Flagship 3: INNONutrients – Optimising regional organic nutrient cycles

Mineral fertilisers are expensive, energy-intensive to produce and lead to nutrient accumulation in ecosystems. Increasing the use of organic manure from South Tyrolean livestock farms in fruit and wine production can help close regional nutrient cycles and reduce dependence on purchased mineral fertilisers.

The practice-oriented research project INNONutrients brings together various on-farm and cross-farm approaches and evaluates their feasibility for South Tyrol’s agriculture.
